Getting rat toys can be fun if you have a few tips. First, go to the rodent section in your pet store. There you will find ferret toys, hamster toys, rat toys, and other rodent toys. Any of these toys except hamster toys will be great toys for your pet. Hamster toys tend to be too small and too weak for rats. Ferret toys work really well though. You can choose from ladders, balls, hammocks, and little hideouts. Rats will play with almost anything you put in their house. Some will even play with bird swings. Because rat's teeth are constantly growing you also should get many things for them to chew on. Nylabones work well and your pet store should have many wood toys. You should also get them a little hideout for them to sleep in and a place to retreat to when they are scared. One thing you should remember is that if your rat is in its hideout avoid reaching in to get him, rather call them out or bribe them with a treat. This will show the rat that this is a safe place to hide. So have fun and be creative.
