Rats as Pets

Rats make great pets. They are highly intelligent, sweet and show affection. They love to explore and love to interact with humans. In fact, if it were not for their long, naked tail, they would be one of the most popular pets. What I like about rats is their personality. Just like dogs and cats, rats have feelings too. My rat, Anastasia, loves everyone in my family, but she has a special bond with me. If she sees me when she is on my mom she will run to me and sit on my shoulder. While they are sitting on your shoulder for a ride, they may chatter their teeth. This means they are happy. If they have a special bond with you, they may kiss your hand.

Unlike what people think rats are very sweet. Rats hardly ever bite and if they do it is usually your fault. Rats would rather sit on your shoulder and enjoy the ride or they would love to explore a new area. They can explore a new area and will not get lost. They will explore a ways, come back to you, or familiar territory, and then explore again

Rats will enjoy riding on your shoulder or in your pocket. Some rats’ especially older rats will be content sitting on your lap, while you scratch behind its ear. Rats can learn many tricks and most will enjoy showing off their skills. Some are more stubborn than others, but with patience and lots of treats they will be pros in no time. No matter what type of personality your rat has, whether it is calm and relaxed or excited and bouncy, owning a rat is so much fun.
